Beds for Small Pets: Washable, and Safe to Chew
Anything soft that goes into a cage will eventually be chewed. That single fact should drive the choice.
Loose fibres are the risk
Stuffing and long loose threads can be ingested or wrap around a limb. Tightly woven fabric with secure seams is safer than something plush and loosely filled.
Washable
A bed that cannot go in a machine will not stay clean. Check it holds its shape after washing before buying several.
Warmth without overheating
A bed should let the animal move away when it is warm enough. An enclosed bed in a warm room needs an alternative cooler spot elsewhere.
Inspect regularly
Once a seam opens, the bed is finished. Checking at each cage clean is enough to catch it in time.
