About
Two guinea pigs in a cage sold for two guinea pigs
Sri Usha Vet is a sole proprietorship based in Hyderabad, Telangana, operating online as Manori Mercantile (manorimercantile.shop).
How this started
Two guinea pigs, and a cage bought in Hyderabad that was described as suitable for two guinea pigs. It was about half the floor area they actually needed. We only found that out because one of them started barbering the other’s fur — a stress behaviour, in an animal with nowhere to get away.
A larger habitat solved it in a fortnight. Nothing about the original cage was defective; it was simply sold against a claim that nobody checks, and the number that would have told us — floor area per animal — was printed nowhere.
Almost every small-animal cage on sale is too small, and the box never says so.
Our commitment
Floor area in centimetres
Published beside every habitat, with the number of animals we would actually keep in it — which is often fewer than the box claims.
Dust-extracted bedding
Respiratory disease is the commonest problem in these species. We stock dust-extracted paper and hemp, and no pine or cedar shavings at all.
We will tell you it is too small
If the habitat you are looking at will not house what you have, we would rather say so than take the order.
Our story
The range is short and biased towards the larger end of every category, because in this trade the cheap option is almost always the one that is too small.
We sell supplies, never live animals. And we say the thing that costs us sales: a guinea pig should not live alone, a hamster should, and a rabbit needs far more room than any indoor cage on this site can give on its own.
Online only
There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Manori Mercantile trades entirely online and ships across India from Hyderabad, Telangana, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
